NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base Review

Hello again! Today I have another review, on the NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. That is a mouthful. I've been hearing more and more good things about this product and I'm so glad I purchased it! If you'd like to read my full review, please click below!

A little backstory on my struggle with eye primers: when I first got into makeup, I never wore a primer. Obviously my shadow creased and I turned to google to figure out how to stop it. All I kept seeing was rave reviews on Urban Decays Primer Potion. So of course, I bought it. It did nothing for me really. Then I tried the "Eden" version and that did nothing. I went to the drugstore, tried L'Oreal Decrease, nothing. ELF eyelid primer, nothing. These primers would work for me for about an hour or so then my oily skin would win and I'd have major creasing. Then I tried MAC painterly paint pot. That did work for me. I was about to get about 3ish hours of wear with minimal creasing. Which still isn't great, but I took what I could get. Anyway, I've been using that for over a year and decided these are the oily eyelid cards I've been dealt! Still, I longed for an eye primer that would keep my shadow looking fresh for as long as I wanted. Cue this gift from the heavens: NARS Pro-Prime Eyeshadow Base.

The packaging is simple and sleek. It's actually slightly larger than my Covergirl Lash Perfection mascara, which I was suprised by when I saw it in person. But about half the packaging is the handle itself.

It has a doe-foot applicator. The product is white but becomes invisible almost immediately after you put it on. Some reviews I read have said that makes it hard to tell where you've put it but I haven't had a problem with that. I just make sure i do a thorough swipe across the lid and blend it out with my finger.

I'm happy to say this product actually worked for me! I finally peeled my sick self out of bed at 3pm (omg) yesterday and showered and got myself together. Applied this primer and a dark smokey purple eye.. Well around midnight I went to take my makeup off and my shadow still looked great! No creases! I was overjoyed.

So this NARS primer is 24$ for 0.26 oz. Urban decay Primer potion is 20$ for 0.37oz. So this is a bit pricier, but it is completely worth the extra money because it works for me! If you're having trouble finding an eyeshadow primer that works for your oily skin, I'd recommend this one. Sometimes it takes some shopping around before you really find something that works for you. Obviously it took me almost 4 years to find a good eye primer! I'm happy to say I finally found one! Now if I could just find something to make my giant pores completely dissapear.. That's for another post! ;)

I hope you enjoyed this post! Thank you so much for reading!

  3. When I use this primer I still use my Mac paint pot over it for some reason lol! Actually I do that with any primer I use if I'm not using my paint pot alone. I'm glad you liked this!! I think it's worth the extra $5!

    2. I love the bare study one so much! Even though it's kind of shimmery, it still looks great under matte shades! I want to get painterly haha!
