Review: Maybelline "The Falsies Black Drama" Mascara

Hey lovelies! Today's post is a review on a new mascara, Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama. I am running low on my current favorite (L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions) and decided instead of repurchasing, I'd pick something new up. If your interested to see my opinions on this mascara, click below!

Claims from Maybellines website..

-The most dramatic false lash fab volume!

-Patented Spoon brush reaches lashes from corner-to-corner, while Black Drama formula fills in every gap.

-Matte black lashes from corner-to-corner.

-No gaps from any angle.

So what do I think?

Meh, not so much. I purchased the original Falsies mascara when it first came out, maybe 4 years ago? I remember I wasn't super impressed with it but I did like it. I decided on this one today simply because I liked the original one. Since I used the original Falsies, I have found many mascara that do really impress me. I should have realized that this one would be comparable and I wouldn't be blown away by it.

Pros:

-It is a very matte black color.

-Gives great length.

-Love it on the bottom lashes

-Makes my lashes look thick at the base, without needing to tightline.

Cons:

-It's a very wet consistency which I never like. (Usually mascara dries a little in a week or two so my opinion may change, I will keep you updated.)

-It gave me spidery lashes. Some people like this. I don't hate it but I don't like it for every day.

-There is a perforation in the wand, which allows the brush to move a little more. Which in my opinion is a con because I feel I don't have the most control.

-Holds a curl only when I curl after the mascara is dried (could be a pro, I just prefer to curl my lashes before)

Naked Lashes! Believe it or not they are curled in this picture, crappy angle.

After 2 light coats. As you can see they are a bit clumpy. I do feel this is because it is a very wet mascara and it applies heavily even if you're not trying to. I'm hoping the product will dry a bit and I will be happier with the results. It does make my lashes quite long, I was just looking for a bit more volume. I do love the way it makes my bottom lashes look!

All in all I give this mascara a 6/10. It definately has room for improvement and if it does I will be sure to let you all know. :)

Have you tried this mascara? What is your current favorite mascara? Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed my review!

  2. I haven't tried this version of it, but from what you show I'm not too impressed. It is a nice rich color and looks really nice on your bottom lashes, though. I really like the way the original Falsies makes my lashes look, but it flakes terribly on me!

  4. I tried the original falsies and wasn't too impressed by it (way wet and clumpy). Judging by your review this one isn't any different. I am loving the look of the applicator wand though.

  5. When I first purchased the original falsies I had to let it dry up a bit before I liked how it applied. I actually like like falsies big eyes mascara that has the two sides to it. The wand on the upper lashes side is bigger and not curved, so I like it a lot better then the original!

    1. It's funny that sometimes we want a product to dry up a bit! I was thinking about purchasing big eyes, should have just went with it!

  7. I have this too, and I hate the wet consistency of it too! It's okay but i don't think i'll re-purchase to be honest. I much prefer the Rimmel Retro Glam mascara and that's a few pounds cheaper!
